About Simon Hobbs
Simon Hobbs is a British-born journalist skilled at generating lively, fact-based discussions up to major CEO-level. Simon is best known for being an anchor at CNBC business television for 18 years, first in London then at the New York Stock Exchange.
For the last 5 years Simon co-anchored CNBC USA’s highest-rated Daytime show, 10am ‘Squawk on the Street’, established the network’s 11.30am ‘European Market Close’ and set-up its Travel & Leisure beat.
During his 11 years in London at CNBC EUROPE Simon was awarded ‘International TV Anchor the Year’ by AIB. But is most proud of pushing to anchor his live, daily news shows (literally) from pavements across the EU on critical days to successfully grow that cross-border network.
CNBC relocated Simon to its US HQ in 2009 in order to block him from leading a major relaunch of rival Bloomberg TV.
Simon is an experienced conference host who has travelled the world creating events for CNBC’s advertisers, UN agencies, the World Bank and the EU. Simon was recently sworn-in as an American citizen and lives in Los Angeles.
Simon has anchored many thousands of hours of live TV and is therefore highly skilled at clearly focusing on what people are trying to say and getting the very best from every participant, however nervous or inexperienced they may be.
Simon prides himself on extensive preparation before any event; fully understanding the subject matter, the value-add that each person wants to bring and how best to shape the overall narrative.
Simon is as sharp as a whip but doesn’t take himself too seriously and likes to make people laugh.
